The Public Education Information Management System is the method by which districts submit required data to the Texas Education Agency. Technical assistance and training is provided to assist districts with submitting accurate information. In addition, training is also provided which focuses on the Texas Education Agency's and state legislature's uses of PEIMS data, as well as possible uses of PEIMS data by local education agencies. Agenda items include data available for LEA use, the Academic Excellence Indicator System (AEIS), the Texas Education Agency's SAR database, confidentiality issues, funding vs. ADA, District Effectiveness and Compliance (DEC) Monitoring System, the TEA Accountability System, dropout recovery, administrative reports available through the PEIMS edit system, and submitting quality data.
The collection of Public Education Information System data is required of all school districts by TEC 42.006. The PEIMS Data Standards provides instructions regarding the submission of PEIMS data from school districts to the Texas Education Agency.
